East Coast Prep Birthday

Today's card is just a simple birthday card using the Older and Wiser Level 3 Hostess set and East Coast Prep designer Series paper. I started with a more mustard card base and added a mat of the striped design from the East Coast Prep Designer Paper assortment.

next I inked up the candle portions of the main image (carefully omitting the flames) with the wild wasabi ink pad. I used a baby wipe to take the ink off three of the candles and colored them with my real red and tempting turquoise stampin' write markers. I used the more mustard stampin' write marker for the flames. After I stamped the first five candles, I cleaned the stamp, re-inked two more candles using my stampin' write markers and stamped those in line with the other five. I then added a tempting turquoise and real red mats.

I took a piece of wild wasabi card stock and stamped the Happy Birthday greeting in versamark ink. I then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I wrapped a piece of the striped ribbon from the jersey ribbon originals assortment and wrapped it around a strip of tempting turquoise card stock. I then attached the tempting turquoise strip to the wild wasabi card stock and added the main image with dimensionals. As a last step I attached the wild wasabi card stock to the card front.

I really like this card. It's very bright and happy. Hope you think so too.

I also wanted to give you an update on my MIL. She and I went to get the cast off her wrist today and it looks pretty good. She will have to wear a brace for a couple more weeks and won't really be able to drive until next week, but on the bright note the doctor said everything healed very well and she probably won't even need physical therapy. The brace is not nearly as restrictive as the cast, so she can use her right hand again to write (it was really hard for her not being able to even sign her name for the past 3 weeks) and perform a lot of other ordinary tasks that we take for granted.

So good for mom! In another couple of weeks she'll be as good as new!
