January Book of Me layout

The cold I caught at the end of January put me a bit behind on the Book of Me Scrap Club designs, but I am finally ready to send out the first two packs. Tonight I'll show you the January pack. Inside the large cellophane bag is everything you need to make your January book of me layout. As promised, the January theme is snowflakes, which is stamped as a background on the sky blue card stock using the snow flurries set. But fear not if you never see snow in your part of the country. You can always flip the card stock over and use the plain side or not use it at all. If you remember the Book of Me scrap club rules, there are no rules. Anything goes as long as you are willing to make one 2-page layout per month.

It may not be obvious from the picture, but the January pack comes with coordinating card stock in blue bayou, river rock and sky blue, coordinated stamped pieces to make the title, punched shapes, double stitched ribbon some brads, and metal edge tags. You should have enough of everything to be as creative with your layout as you want to be.

So what are the possibilities? Well, I think my book of me pages (after I choose and print the photos) will look something like this. I know the January isn't straight, but that's because it's not adhered to the page yet. You see, I try not to adhere things just in case the layout changes after I pick and print the photos. Also, I wanted to be able to show you a couple of different ways you can use the pieces in your kit.

And this is another possible layout, for those who prefer landscape orientation. You'll notice that on these pages I chose not to use the sky blue background, just to show you that this is a perfectly good option. And it does give the pages a different look, right? So when you get the packet don't be afraid to experiment -- have fun with this. The layouts definitely are not carved in stone.

The one thing that I did not do in the packets is score and tear the photo mats or punch them to take the ribbon. If you like this look you will need to score and tear yourself, and then use either the horizontal slot punch or the handheld rectangle punch to punch holes for the ribbon to go through. If you do not have the punches, you can just wrap the ribbon around the entire mat.

If you did not sign up for the book of Me club but would like to participate, there is still time. You can join at any time of the year, but each month's layouts will only be available for 45 days after the end of that month (so the last day to order January 2008 packets will be March 16). Also, for those who join after the end of the month they want to purchase, the price will be $15 per packet, instead of the $10 per packet price for members who pay before the end of the month (all shipping and tax included in the price). So you do get a 33% discount for joining and paying early. And while I would love for all members to complete the entire year, there is no penalty for skipping a month (except for the extra fee you'd have to pay if you changed your month and wanted to purchase a previous month's packet).
