Tonight I was trying to figure out a design for a simple Christmas card that would be easy to mass-produce (since I will need close to a hundred of them) yet still elegant. I also wanted to cut down on the embellishments so as not to run afoul of new USPS mail regulations that would require extra postage.
Here's what I came up with. It's a single layer card with no embellishments. The focal point is the image from Lovely as a Tree with the bunny from Wildlife Preserve thrown in to personalize the card a bit (he reminds me of our Stewie!).
I used the coluzzle to create an oval mat which I then used as a reverse mask to sponge on the bashful blue "sky" around the tree in the oval pattern, thus creating a faux layered look. Finally I stamped the word peace from the Perfect Presentation set in the lower right hand corner. And that's it -- I was done!
I really like this card. It's very natural and serene. Don;t get me wrong, I love Santa and Rudolph and Frost and all the other traditional Christmas cast of characters, but sometimes I also just love a simple peaceful winter day, and I think that's what's reflected on this card.
So if you were wondering what I would be working on this week, now you know!

This is GORGEOUS! Now I have to have Wild Reserve. I've been wondering how I would use that set. Thanks for the inspiration.

oh my Diane...LOVE IT! I speaks Peaceful when you look at it!
What a beautiful card. Thank you for making us think outside the box. It helps to be reminded to "keep it simple" sometimes. Although simple is definitely elegant here. Nice work!
This is really pretty Diane, I would love to make this card.
