I was having so much fun with the round chipboard coasters and the Afternoon Tea designer series paper that I decided to keep going and create a mini scrapbook for Mother's Day. As you can see from the front page, this one is more than a sample -- it's actually going to be a Mother's Day present for my SIL, Alice. I know I'm kind of ruining the surprise by posting it here early, but I hope she'll like the mini-scrapbook enough not to mind.
I kept the title page pretty simple with just the Mother's Day sentiment from the All Holidays set and the name in a label holder from the aged copper hodgepodge hardware with a bit of double stitched wild wasabi grosgrain ribbon for decoration. I also used the wild wasabi double stitched grosgrain ribbon to attach all the "pages" of the mini scrapbook together.
I didn't want to make this little book too bulky, so I tried to take it easy on page embellishments and let the photos take center stage. On these two pages the only embellishment is an oval clip from the hodgepodge hardware kit plus some soft sky double stitched grosgrain ribbon.
Again, only one embellishment on this page -- the picture hanger from the hodgepodge hardware kit plus some wild wasabi double stitched grosgrain ribbon.
These pages use some soft sky double stitched grosgrain ribbon with a hodgepodge ribbon slide and a hodgepodge round clip with some wild wasabi and groovy guava double stitched grosgrain ribbon.
I wasn't sure whether to include a photo on the final page, but I really liked this picture of the whole family and it seemed like a very fitting photo for the end of the book. I left this page alone, though, with no embellishments.
Overall, this little brag book was pretty simple to put together. I think the hardest part was narrowing down the photo choices. Because it's so small it really did not take much designer paper and, as you read above, the embellishments were pretty minimal. So if you have some spare coasters and designer paper scraps laying around, I would highly recommend making your own brag book! They would make fabulous presents for moms, dads, grandparents and even graduates!
By the way, to get the right size photos for this little book I printed them on my home photo printer which has a setting that allows me to print 2 3x4 photos on a 6x4 piece of photo paper. This saved a lot of ink and photo paper, making the project even more economical!
